Liver Function Tests (LFT) are a group of blood tests used to assess the health of the liver, detect liver injury or inflammation, and evaluate how well the liver is performing certain functions. LFTs can also help identify problems involving the bile ducts.
Preparation
Usually, fasting is not required for an LFT alone. However, your laboratory or doctor may ask you to fast if the LFT is being performed along with other tests that require fasting, such as fasting blood glucose or certain lipid testing.
